Potty Time

Well, I was off of work this week and had a blast! Caleb and I went on our first field trip to a farm, to the zoo, shopping, had play dates with some ladies from church, and helped a friend do some homeschooling as well. It was so good to actually get out of the house and be able to spend some quality time with Caleb before the baby arrives. I have also been having Caleb sit on the potty this week and he has done a great job just sitting there and reading, but something amazing happened last night. We were sitting at the dinner table having dinner with a good friend of ours from church and Caleb began to grunt! Tommy picked him up and rushed to the bathroom where they began to read the usual book, "Polar Bear, Polar Bear." Then all of the sudden from the back of the house I heard, "Oh my gosh, you did it! Kelly he did it!" I ran to the bathroom and Tommy lifted him up off the toilet so that I could view this amazing thing: the pooh of our two year old. We sang and danced around like crazy people and then gave Caleb a pop sickle. Tommy said when Caleb actually "went" his eyes got so big and he said, "Whoa, yucky." So later that night, before it was time for Caleb to get into bed, I had him try to go pee pee. Well, I sat him on the toilet and he started straining and he pooted and said, "Yea...." Then he pooted again and said, "Yea..." So maybe he is getting the gist of this potty thing. I hope this is the beginnings of getting him into pull-ups and out of diapers. Yea, for Caleb.

6 More Weeks to GO!!!!!!!!!!

Well, only six more weeks to go!! I can't believe it! The wait is starting to feel a little longer just because I am getting so excited about our sweet little ones arrival. Tommy is getting excited as well, but when we were talking the other night, I think it became real to him when I said, "Only 6 more weeks." Then, he said, "We are going to have two kids." I guess when you are not pregnant you don't think about the reality of a baby coming into your world as much. So here are some pictures of me in the last 6 weeks of the pregnancy and I am only posting them because my family is wanting to see me pregnant, otherwise they would not be on here! I am feeling a little frumpy! Tommy took some goofy pictures of me and I didn't post most of them but I did post one and the last one is me being embarrassed. Oh, by the way, if it is a girl she will be named, Lainey Elizabeth Speirs. If it is a boy, he will be named, Nathan Andrew Speirs (Nate). Hope you enjoy the pics. HA HA!

Baby Silas Braun

Our friends Scott and Priscilla Braun just welcomed their new baby boy into the world. His name is Silas Eugene Braun and he weighed 9lbs and 1oz and was 21 inches long. Mom and baby are doing fine! We were so happy to watch them become parents and we know that they will be excellent at it. Welcome Baby Silas.

Hurricane Ike

A few weeks ago hurricane Ike decided to give us a visit in Louisville. We were all very surprised, as well as the weather men, that the hurricane was on his way here. When we were getting in the car one Sunday after church the wind was blowing so hard but we did not really think there was a large wind storm coming. We had some friends over for lunch and were sitting around visiting afterward and the lights began flickering. Eventually, the electricity went out but we assumed that it would be on in a few hours or so. Little did we know that over 200,000 people in Louisville were without power as well. So for a few days we were without electricity and so were are friends here at Carriage House North Apartments. We had so much fun hanging out with them. We had to grill all our meat so that it would not spoil, so we all grilled out. The Lord was extra gracious to us because the weather was cool and the kids really enjoyed playing outside. The guys in the complex played football and the ladies sat around and talked. It was such a pleasant experience and it helped that we had hot water so at least we smelled alright. We only went without electricity for about 2 days and were so sad when it came on. We enjoyed our simple way of life. The next day, no one was outside and we were back to our normal way of life. Although we had electricity some of our friends went without it for almost 2 weeks but they were troopers. So all that to say, it was a ton of fun getting to camp for a few days, and I think we should do this at least once a year and I assume my friends may agree!!!!
