We had a fun camping trip about 2 months ago with some of our very close friends. I know it has taken me a while to post these but better late than never. We drove only about 45 minutes from Louisville and stayed at a really nice state park. We walked around, set up camp, made a delicious hot dog dinner and smores. Tommy had to drive Caleb around because he could not fall asleep in the tent; I guess there was just too much excitement going on for him to calm down. Then it started to rain and boy did it. It rained for 3 hours and our tent was leaking like crazy; Caleb had gotten up by then and we all could not sleep. Finally, we decided the best thing to do was to go home and get a good nights rest. So we packed up everything but the tents and headed home. Caleb was wide awake and we arrived home around 3 a.m. It was real exciting and we will laugh about it forever. We are so glad we had our friends there with us because it would not have been as fun without them.

Caleb is enjoying his new rubber boots. This was the first time that he was allowed to splash around in the water and we could hardly keep him from all the puddles. Such a boy!

My very very sweet friend Danica. She and I are neighbors and love it because we get to see each other everyday!!! She also just found out the she is prego!!! We are so excited for she and Eric.

Caleb swinging at the park. He loves to do everything at the park except swing but we actually caught him smiling this time. It didn't last long; I think he has his mommy's weak stomach when it comes to motion. Sorry little man.

Caleb's Big Boy Bed

Well, Caleb has officially made it into a "big boy bed." About a month and a half ago we began the transition and boy has it been exciting. He did well at first, getting up several times, and reaping the percussions of it. He began to stay in his bed and do really well for several weeks but then........oh, but then.............he figured out, "I can get out of my bed anytime I want and don't care how much trouble I get into, the thrill is worth the discipline that I will have to endure." Well, that is what I thought was going through his mind. He would get out of bed after two hours of discipline and was still ready for more. We tried talking the bed up, lovingly disciplining the rump, talking, talking, talking, putting him in his crib, taking his blanky and much more, including MUCH PRAYER!!! Finally I tried closing his door and it worked!!! Well, he gets out one time to see if he can get out and then he realizes that he has lost the battle and gets in his bed or falls asleep. I found him asleep next to his bed the other day; I guess he didn't make it to the bed in time before he crashed. So, I guess I will leave it at this, because it is working and I am tired, but when he figures out how to open the door then we will began with the battle again. If anyone out there has any good parenting advice about how to keep your child in bed, please let me know!!!! We need all the help we can get but I bet whatever you suggest we have tried it. So just try me. Anyway, Caleb is really such a joy, a little on the hard headed side, but truly a blessing from the Lord. He is teaching Tommy and I so much about ourselves and how that relates to our relationship with the Father. I am really thankful to God for giving us such a blessing to enjoy here on earth. Bees!!!

Well, today I had my really big first scare as a mom. Caleb and his good friend Elijah were outside playing near a stump. I got a really bad feeling and asked Tommy if he would go over and check to see if there were any nests or anything in it and as soon as I got the words out of my mouth a cloud of bees began to arise. PANIC!!!!!!!!! Oh, my did we all panic!!! Tommy ran over and grabbed Elijah and Emily beat me over to Caleb and grabbed him. We started tearing off cloths and making sure that they were not getting stung over and over. The boys were screaming and I felt like I was going to pass out! Caleb was stung 4 times and Elijah three times; Emily was stung on the hand and I on the "gluteus maximus"!!! Ouch. We were so glad that that was all the damage because it could have been a lot worse. Caleb cried for about 10 minutes and then said "ouch" off and on for an hour or so after. I on the other hand was shaky and had weak knees for a long while after. I hate seeing my child hurt like that. Anyway, thought you might like to know what happened.
